Kitwe PF official doubts UPND budget

By ROGERS KALERO

THE Patriotic Front (PF) and Zambians in general will find it difficult to believe in the UPND 2022 budget because the ruling party has a record of   inconsistency and failure to  fulfil their campaign promises,  the PF has said.

PF Chimwemwe constituency women information and publicity secretary Suwilanji Machalo said, while the budget may sound promising, the PF and Zambians in general will wait for its implementation to see how an ordinary Zambian will benefit from it.

Ms Machalo was reacting to the 2022 budget which was the first budget for the UPND following its victory in the August elections.

She said the budget, presented by Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, was a grand promise on a piece of paper and Zambians were now waiting for its implementation from a political party which has been full of  inconsistence .

“Yes, the budget looks promising, but the problem is that when people start perceiving you to be a liar and an inconsistent person, it is difficult to believe or trust you. Already Zambians have started having doubts in the UPND after those campaign promises.

“So as  promising as the budget can look, the PF and Zambians in general will find it difficult to be believe in the UPND 2022 budget because the ruling party has a record of being   inconsistent,” Ms Machalo said .

Ms Machalo said the conduct of the UPND in the two months they have been in  government, leaves much to be desired because it has been thriving on lies, propaganda, intimidation and harassment.

She said the UPND has lamentably failed to settle down and deliver on  itscampaign promises, but has engaged in witch-hunting and retribution instead of focusing on real issues like addressing poverty and dealing with the emerging questionable cultural issues such as  homosexuality.

Ms Machalo said maintaining silence on issues of homosexuality could result in people believing that the “New Dawn’ government planned to  legalisehomosexuality.

“For once, the New Dawn government should settle down instead of engaging in witch-hunting and retribution in the name of fighting corruption. The New Dawn should be ashamed that , on one side you are calling people thieves on  the other side , you are inspecting the projects which were started by them.

“Instead of pursuing individuals, the New Dawn should fight the emerging social ills like homosexuality, poverty, hunger and other issues,” she said.
