…as Power and Zesco United share points

FC MUZA shot to the summit of the MTN Zambia Premier League table after humiliating rivals Green Eagles 4-nil in a Southern province derby played at the Independence Stadium in Choma.
MUZA who are Zambia’s envoys in the CAF Confederations Cup outshined their regional rivals who were reduced to ten men Shapi Chikondi was commanded to leave the pitch for a second bookable offence five minutes into the first half.
A brace from Rickson Ng’ambia and solo strikes from Bobo Angwenga and Andrew Phiri propelled MUZA to nine points on the log on par with Power Dynamos who dropped to second after a disappointing 2-0 stalemate with Zesco Unite.
MUZA had dominated play from the first whistle in Choma and almost came close to going ahead just five minutes after kick off when Ng’ambi set up Solomon Mpasela who headed the ball wide.
Eagles were unfortunate to receive a Red which was handed to Shapi Chikondi for a second bookable offence a few inches away from the eighteen-yard box.
Bobo Angwanga stepped up and made no mistake by scoring the free-kick from the edge of the box to give MUZA a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.
MUZA made some changes before the break and introduced Gift Simanansa and Mandra Muleya for Grace Mosengo and Chanda Chileshe respectively.
The Changes impacted MUZA positively and it didn’t take long for the Mazabuka based Super League outfit to double their lead through Ng’ambi who easily tapped in Gift Simanansa pass two minutes before the break.
In the second half, MUZA FC coach Mathews Ndlovu withdrew Mbongo Ekofo who paved way for the lethal Andrew Phiri and it didn’t take Phiri too long to register his name on the score sheet with a goal a minute before the hour mark.
Three minutes later Ng’ambi completed his brace with a fine finish and made the game beyond reach for Green Eagles who could have snatched the consolation goal in the 70th minute when midfielder Spencer Sautu hit the upright.
Meanwhile, Abraham Siankombo scored a late equalizer to rescue Zesco United from loosing to defending champions Power Dynamos as the two giants shared the points after a 2-2 stalemate.
Power Dynamos were enjoying a comfortable 2-0 lead thanks to first and second half goals from Austin Muwowo and Andy Boyeli who scored in the 37th and 53rd minute respectively.
However, Kelvin Kampamba inspired Zesco united’s comeback with a goal in the 78th minute before Siankombo grabbed the crucial equalizer five minutes before the final whistle.
The stalemate propelled Power to nine points while Zesco United moved to third with eight points.
