THE Patriotic Front (PF) Central Committee has resolved to have party constitution amended before the general conference in April 2020, says secretary general Davis Mwila

Mr Mwila said the committee charged with the responsibility of amending the document would be led by the party national chairman Dr Ngosa Simbyakula.

Mr Mwila alerted party members that the Central Committee wanted party officials and the general membership to participate by making submissions during the process.

The secretary general said this yesterday when he addressed Lusaka province party officials at Lusaka City Council (LCC) Civic Centre Nakatindi Hall.

Mr Mwila was accompanied by Central Committee members who include chairman for elections Jean Kapata, chairman for trade, commerce and industry Margret Mwanakatwe, deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya, Paul Moonga and Annie Kayula among others.

Mr Mwila said the need to have the Patriotic Front constitution amended was discussed in the Central Committee meeting and resolved that the former justice minister (Simbyakula) would led the committee.

“The other issue that I want to talk about is the amendment of the party constitution and I think this matter we have discussed in the central committee that we amend our constitution.

And this committee would be spearheaded by Ngosa Simbyakula our national chairman he will go around all the provinces and get submission from party officials,” he said.

Mr Mwila explained that he alerted the party officials because he wanted them to get involved.

He said the committee would draw up a programme for the submissions before going to the general conference.

Mr Mwila reminded the party officials that dates had been set for the party elections starting from July 2018 to April 2020.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwila explained that he was addressing the meeting with his entourage in order to interact and also hear the challenges which they were facing as party officials.

“We have not meet after elections so the President of the party Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu gave us the authority to visit all the provinces. We have visited Copperbelt, Eastern, Central and now Lusaka province.

“So the President sent us once we finish the tour we will hall go back to him and report on the issues that you are going to raise and off course we shall report to the Central Committee on our findings,” he said.

Mr Mwila said he was happy that the PF in Lusaka had penetrated in certain districts or constituencies were it was a no go area for them such as Lufunsa, Chongwe and Feira.
