LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTRY TO BLAME FOR CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN LUSAKA

Dear Editor,

Kindly help me publish this article in your newspaper pertaining to this pandemic disease of cholera in Lusaka.

I am a resident of Lusaka and wish to mention that I wrote articles to one of the local daily newspapers in regard to filthy status of Lusaka City.

I did mention the poor drainage system on Lumumba Road, Soweto Market and Kamwala shopping centre through to Intercity Bus Station.

The situation should have been avoided because people have complained over the dirtiness of Lusaka City for a long time.

The Local government ministry should have surveyed the entire city and taken corrective action.

The question is what is the purpose of having Local government minister, Town Clerk, and its top officials?

It is illogical to blame street vending as the cause of this outbreak of cholera, but total inefficiency of local government ministry whose officials just sit in their offices and drink coffee.

This ‘I don’t care’ attitude by our officers does not help our country at all.
