MoU to enhance training of transport experts

A PROPERLY managed transport and logistics sector will reduce the cost of doing business, Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCLT) honorary treasurer Mumeka Walumweya has said.

Ms. Walumweya said there was need to have a well monitored transport system to regulate the transport sector.

Speaking during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Zambia College of Pensions and Insurance Trust (ZCPIT) and the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, she said the MoU would help enhance the training of professionals that will have a broad understanding of the transport and logistics sector.

“It is our desire that through this effort, professionalism shall be enhanced by all persons engaged in the logistics and transport industry,” she said.

She said increased membership and revenue and the cost of running business in the transport industry could be reduced through applications of real time systems.

She said the procedures and models that are embedded in the logistics and transport faculty.

And ZCPIT director Julu Simuule said the partnership would give students the knowledge on the importance of transport in business.

He said the partnership would equip the learners with added knowledge that would contribute to the growth of the business sector.
