Mopani rakes in K341m in taxes since March

GOVERNMENT has proclaimed that Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) has paid K341 million in taxes since its takeover by Internal Resources Holdings (IRH) in March this year.

The paid amount is equivalent to approximately US$13 million.

IRH based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has a 51 percent stake in MCM.

This came to light when IRH Chief Financial Officer, Abhinay Khowala, paid a courtesy call on Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, in Lusaka yesterday.
