Zambia exporting 195 MW of electricity

ZAMBIA is exporting about 195 megawatts of electricity to neighbouring countries despite the country being in acute deficit of power, which has subjected the country to having more than 18 hours of load shedding, Peter Kapala has disclosed.

Mr Kapala, the Minister of Energy has confirmed that 95 megawatts of power is being exported to Namibia, while 60 megawatts is being sold to Botswana with the remaining 40 megawatts being exported to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This came to light when Kamfinsa Member of Parliament Christopher Kang’ombe wanted to know how much electricity Zambia is exporting amidst the energy crisis.
