NKWAZI coach Albert Mphande has been given a three-match administrative leave, Club Secretary Davies Chimbwelenge has confirmed.

Chimbwelenge clarified that the information circulating on social media that Mphande had been fired was untrue. Chimbwelenge said Mphande did not mean he has been fired.

“Assistant coach Mordon Malitoli will lead the team in the coming three matches,” he said.

Nkwazi are 10th on the Super League table with 38 points from 28 games played. They have a record of nine wins, 11 draws and eight losses

Meanwhile Nkwazi striker Justin Shonga has been reported to have signed for South African side Orlando Pirates.

The Chipolopolo striker was today expected to have his first training session with Pirates.

Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza hinted in an interview yesterday that the Soweto giants had signed Shonga to strengthen the team.

Shonga caught the eye of Pirates at the 2017 COSAFA Cup in South Africa where Zambia finished as runners-up.

“We have signed a new striker Justin and he will train tomorrow (Wednesday) with the team. This is one way of building a strong team,” he said.

But Chimbwelenge said the club will issue an official statement over Shonga today.
