7TH OCTOBER, 2021 – Four people died on the spot after the vechicle they were travelling in plugged into Litawa river along Litawa road in Mongu on 6th October, 2021 at around 04:30 hours in Mongu.
7TH OCTOBER, 2021 – Four people died on the spot after the vechicle they were travelling in plugged into Litawa river along Litawa road in Mongu on 6th October, 2021 at around 04:30 hours in Mongu.
Involved was a Toyota Surf unknown registration number which was being driven by Mubiana Evis who is currently on the run.
The accident happened when the motor vehicle failed to ascend after crossing the bridge hence rolled backwards and plugged into the river.
The deceased have been identified as Matakala Mundia aged 46 of Liyande Primary School, Mufanga Fanwell aged 39 of Litawa village, Matomola Simunje aged 36 of Namengo area and Eliza Simagolwa aged 36 of Namengo area while three juveniles aged between two and eight years were treated and discharged.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited in Lewanika General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
