THE Patriotic Front government has not forgotten about the aspirations of the poor Zambians contrary to assertions by former Information minister Chishimba Kambwili who alleges that power had corrupted many PF leaders such that those who voted for them were now treated like dogs, Milenge district commissioner in Lupula Province, James Nyenjele, has said.

Mr Kambwili’s comments came amid decision by Luanshya Municipal Council to remove street vendors from the central business district.

But in an interview yesterday, Mr Nyenjele said the PF government was still a pro-poor government and that whatever programmes it was carrying out was solely done in the best interest of majority Zambians.

“Those are just politics from Dr Kambwili. The PF leaders and Government officials have not changed. We are still the same. We are still a pro-poor Government.

“He (Kambwili) should not just stay on the Copperbelt and issue statements. He should be moving around the country so that he can appreciate how well we are working with the people of Zambia,” said Mr Nyenjele.

And Mr Nyenjele said the people of Milenge were happy with the development the PF government was implementing in the area.

“The PF government has brought development to Milenge district and Luapula Province at large which has never been witnessed before since independence.”

He cited the construction of Milenge District Hospital, Milenge Secondary School and Milenge Trades Training Institute as some of the projects being implemented.

“REA (the Rural Electrification Authority) has also promised us that the district will be electrified before the end of this year,” said Mr Nyenjele, who was speaking while touring his district to inspect development projects.
