ZAMBIAN champions Power Dynamos was stunned 2-0 by Tanzanian giants Simba in an international friendly match played on Sunday evening at a fully packed Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salem.
Goals from Willy Onana and Fabrice Ngoma were enough for the Tanzanian giants to hand Power Dynamos a footballing lesson on a day the Tanzanian outfit was celebrating its Simba Day.
Onana stunned the Kitwe side with a power strike just four minutes after kick off, beating goal keeper Wilard Mwanza who had started in goal following the absence of first choice goal keeper Lawrence Mulenga who is nursing an injury.
The Zambian champions look composed after conceding as they searched for an equaliser but where unlucky with their finishing.
Ngoma sealed the victory for Simba in the 74th minute with a sublime header from a corner.
The annual Simba Day which was graced by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, gave the Zambian champions an insight of what they expect as Zambia’s lone envoy in the CAF Champions League set to resume next month.
Power will now focus on the Carling Black Label Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndlovu Charity Shield clash against Forest Rangers next weekend at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Meanwhile, Red Arrows won the four-team tournament held in Ndola after holding Ndola giants Zesco United to a 1-1 stalemate in the third match of the tournament at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Chitiya Mususu rescued the Airmen after he cancelled out Lazarus Kambole’s goal to guarantee an unbeaten record for Arrows who defeated Zanaco and Green Eagles in the first two games to finish the tournament with seven points.
Zesco United finished second with five points from two stalemates and one victory over Green Eagles while Zanaco finished on third position with four points collected from one defeat, one stalemate and one victory.
The Wedson Nyirenda-tutored Bankers beat Green Eagles 2-0 in the last game thanks to second half goals from Chawanangwa Kaonga and Jack Ngulube.
Green Eagles were the whipping boys as they concluded the tournament with three defeats. The Choma outfit was stunned 2-0 and 3-1 by Zesco United and Red Arrows in the first two games before the loss to Zanaco.
