NDOLA UNITED IN PROVINCIAL FINALS

NDOLA United FC stormed the finals of the inaugural FAZ Provincial Cup on Thursday after beating Jumulo FC in a tightly contested match played at Musa Kasonka Stadium before a capacity crowd.
Two second half goals from midfielder Benson Chilenga and winger Simon Mwewa were enough to punish a youthful Jumulo FC.
United started the game on a slow note as they allowed the visitors to dominate play in midfield where Jumulo out-played the Council side.
The first half ended nil all with Jumulo being the dominant side despite the failure to convert into goals the chances that came their way.
On resumption, United Coach Nchimunya Mweetwa made a tactical change withdrawing a holding midfielder Isaac Namakube for Ebenezer who operated from the right flank and further pushing Skipper Webby Ng’andwe into the midfield.
The change in formation from a traditional 4-4-2 to an offensive 4-3-3 and it wasn’t too long before the changes paid a dividend.
Jumulo tried to push their way and come back into the game but it wasn’t to be, as the United goal minder Clement Kasongo, who had put up a man of the match performance, was equal to the task.
United will now face winner of the other semi-final between Sharp Konkola Blades FC and Mufulira Blackpool FC on a date and venue to be soon announced.
