THE acquittal of former directors of Access Financial Services Aaron Chungu and Faustin Kabwe is a clear indication that the two were victims of the vicious cartel which was foolishly jealous of their success, says Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma.

Commenting on the acquittal of Mr Kabwe and Mr Chungu, who have for the past 13 years been battling to prove their innocence over a variety of allegations involving their companies, Mr Musoma said there was no doubt the duo were victims of the cartel.

He told the Daily Nation that his political party was happy that finally Mr. Chungu and Mr. Kabwe had walked to freedom following persecutions by the vicious cartel.

“As ZRP we are very happy that at least now justice has been done to the two gentlemen.

“No doubt these people were just victims of the vicious cartel who were just foolishly jealous of their success,” he said.

Mr. Musoma said even if justice had come too late, ZRP saluted the courts of law for giving the duo justice.

“We are happy that at least the two gentlemen have received justice,” he said.

Mr. Musoma said it was painful that the two businessmen had to go through such persecution just because of the jealousy of their business competitors.

“We know that they are not the only ones; there were others who served jail sentences because they refused to bow to the serpent.

“We just pray that things like this will never happen in Zambia again,” he said.

Mr. Musoma commended the PF government under the leadership of President Lungu for upholding the rule of law and justice in Zambia.

He said at least for the first time in a long time in Zambia people were able to receive justice.

“The two gentlemen should not have gone through such hell because these are people who contributed to the economy of Zambia as they were credible and hardworking Zambians. They contributed significantly to the well-being of this country through the things that they started but because of the foolishness of the cartel they made sure that these people went down, more especially when they refused to bow to the serpent.

“But we really salute them (Mr Kabwe and Mr Chungu) that the next generation is going to look up to them and get inspired for standing for the truth because there is no doubt that had they bowed to the serpent they would have not gone through such tribulations,” he said.

Mr. Musoma said he was aware of ‘‘some foolish criminals’’ who bowed to the serpent and were let off the hook while Mr. Kabwe and Mr Chungu were made to pay through the nose for standing resolutely for the truth.

“Among other things that the serpent wanted was that they betray the late second republican president Dr. Frederick Chiluba and they dared to lie and concoct anything,” he said.
