THE case in which five people are alleged to have beheaded a 22 year old man in Kitwe’s Racecourse Township failed to commence in the Kitwe High court on Friday.

This was after the state failed to avail witnesses in court.

The five accused persons, Vincent Simwanza, Brian Chikonde, Erick Kaira, Cosam Mwansa and Misheck Mukuka are alleged to have murdered Wilson Musonda of Racecourse Township.

Facts are that on 27th March 2017, the suspects murdered Musonda contrary to the laws of Zambia.

One of the state lawyers told the court that the office of the police commanding officer has since been engaged to summon witnesses so that trial can commence.

The beheaded body of Musonda was found in a makeshift barbershop near Chikosa bar in the same Township.

The five accused were later apprehended two weeks later in connection with the murder.

High court Judge Isaac Kamwendo adjourned the matter to 16th February 2018 for commencement of trial.
