Zambia prays

GOVERNMENT has announced that the commemoration of the Day of National Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation in Lusaka has been moved from the Mulungushi International Conference Centre to the Lusaka Showgrounds.

Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili disclosed this in a press statement issued on Friday.
Reverend Sumaili stressed that the changes are for Lusaka Province and that all details of the commemoration scheduled for today remain unchanged.
The Minister has since advised the general public to join in the prayers and adhere to prescribed Covid-19 health and safety guidelines.
President Edgar Lungu is today expected to grace the commemoration of the Day of National Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation while the Vice President will be in Chipata.
Meanwhile, Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) president, Nevers Mumba has called on the church to use the National Day of Prayer to reconcile different groupings in society such as political parties.
Dr Mumba said everyone, including political players should genuinely engage and seek forgiveness of one another.
He also challenged Church leaders tasked with the responsibility to spearhead this year’s prayers to go beyond the usual commemorations and reach out to marginalised communities affected with different afflictions. – ZANIS
