MAN 28 SURVIVES ELECTROCUTION

A 28 year old man of Saviye compound in Solwezi is battling for his life in Solwezi General hospital after being electrocuted.

In a statement made available to the Daily Nation, North Western commissioner of police Auxensio Daka said the incident occurred yesterday around 14:00 hours and identified the victim as Obed Mpashi.

He said Mpashi climbed the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) near Solwezi general hospital.

“The victim sustained burns  on the right arm and right side of the back,” Mr Daka said.

He said Mpashi is believed to be mentally ill.

“He is currently in a critical condition, ” he added.

  Meanwhile,  a 6 year old girl of Longwani villlage in senior chief Sikufele’s chiefdom in Kabompo district has died after a snake bite.

Mr Daka said the incident occurred yesterday in Kande area and identified the victim as Dilce Makai.

He said Makai was together with friends collecting mashrooms when she was bitten by a snake.

“She died on arrival at the hospital,” he said.
