EIGHT Chinese nationals are reportedly admitted to Chawama Cholera Treatment Centre, impeccable sources have disclosed.

And more cases of people with symptoms of cholera are being recorded across the country, with the latest being of the Chinese nationals.

The source told Daily Nation that eight Chinese were currently admitted and receiving treatment at Chawama Cholera Treatment Centre in Lusaka.

“There are about 8 Chinese nationals who are also battling cholera, they are all admitted to Chawama Cholera treatment Centre,” the source said.

Meanwhile, almost 50 deaths and over 2000 cholera cases have been recorded since the pandemic broke out last October.

More recently the outbreak spread to low-density areas including Rhodespark, Woodlands, Balastone, Chelstone, Silverest, Chamba Valley and Ibex Meanwood, among others.

The Ministry of Health has cautioned the public to be on alert to the water-borne disease and start vaccinations this week.

In an effort to clampdown on cholera, defence forces have been directed to join the Ministry of Health and Lusaka City Council in escalated efforts to contain the spread of cholera in the city and other towns.
