PRESIDENT Edger Lungu has directed the Ministry of Finance to release K1.5 million towards the construction of a market shelter in Chifubu, Member of Parliament Frank Ng’ambi has disclosed.

Mr Ng’ambi explained that the shelter would accommodate traders whose makeshift stands were destroyed during the clean-up exercise.

He said an additional K1 million would be drawn from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to go towards the project.

He appealed to the affected traders to remain calm as ground work was being done.

Mr Ng’ambi said he would engage Ndola City Council management on the proposed alternative trading place.

“People in my constituency are happy that the cleaning exercise has brought sanity in market places and we have not recorded any more cholera cases.

“This shows that the cleaning exercise is recording successes and we shall continue to do so. As area Member of Parliament I appeal to all the traders especially those that had built their stalls illegally and were demolished, to stay calm as plans to construct a market shelter are underway.” he assured.
