A LAND wrangle has erupted in new Kaundula farm bloc in Mkushi.

Nkulumashiba ward Councillor Orbit Kaima disclosed the wrangle in an interview with the Daily Nation.

Mr. Kaima said the wrangle was between squatters and genuine owners who obtained land from government through normal procedure.

Mr. Councillor Kaima explained that the squabbles were sparked off when government demarcated the land to new owners and removed the squatters from the designated pieces of land but took long to put up beacons.

“The problem is with the first squatters on the land who are claiming to be rightful owners of the land but have no documentation to prove ownership. The group is threatening genuine owners. Government should intervene as quickly as possible before lives are lost.” Mr. Kaima explained

Mr Kaima added that there was need by government through the relevant ministry to put things straight and resolve the matter amicably before the situation got of hand.

Mr. Kaima has since appealed to the warrying parties to refrain from acts of violence and wait for government to resolve the matter.
