FORMER republican President Rupiah Banda has predicted a competitive 2018 Zambian Futsal League (ZFL) season.

Speaking yesterday during the launch of the 2018 ZFL season at Automotive Equipment Arena, the former president reaffirmed his support towards the sport of futsal in Zambia.

He was honored to have been accorded a chance for the second year running to grace the launch of the tournament.

“I am humbled to once again grace the opening of the ZFL, I am looking forward to a competitive season and expecting the best from players. I will continue to be number one football fan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Automotive Equipment club chairperson Tarak Mehta said the club would endeavour to spearhead the growth of futsal in Zambia.

Mehta said the club had invested in the ultramodern indoor futsal arena to ensure the game is played in a FIFA standard conducive environment.

“We have provided a platform for our kids to develop their talent and become Zambia’s great players,” he said.

Mr Banda together with his wife Thandiwe keenly followed the proceedings of opening match between AE Bullents and CSS.

By press time CSS were leading 3-1.

The ZFL has attracted 11 teams.
