Mr Chitotela, who is Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development has called for dis- cipline among young people to promote national unity in the country.

Speaking during the handover of a cheque in Rufunsa on Sunday, Mr Chitotela said the governing party was committed to empowering young people across the country through vari- ous empowerment programmes.

Mr Chitotela said the PF Government would not be distracted by disgruntled people who al- ways wanted to bring confusion and promote anarchy in the country.

He said the empowerment programmes would be rolled out countrywide so that all provinces are catered from proceeds raised during last year’s “Meet the President” fundraising dinner.

He warned the leadership in the area not to squander the money, but to ensure that it worked for the intended purpose, saying anyone found wanting would be arrested.

“It is time for you to work hard and be patience and per- severe and work for the people of Zambia and as Government,

we are aware of the challenges youths in the country are going through and we have embarked on various programmes to ensure that we improve the living standards of our youths.

“Youth empowerment is the bedrock of every economy as youths are the future leaders of tomorrow, “said Mr Chitotela.

And Rufunsa Vice District Chairman, Bartholomew Kalambalala, said young people and women in the area were facing a lot of challenges due to lack of employment.

Mr Kalambalala however thanked the party leadership for the money which he said will go a long way in improving the welfare of young people in the constituency.

He also said the levels of crime and illicit behaviour will reduce as young people would be occupied with productive ventures and urged the young people to attract more people to grow the ruling party.

Mr Kalambalala who is Rufunsa Council chairperson said the empowerment programme would reduce poverty in Rufunsa because more youths will bene t from it in ventures such as Aquaculture farming and animal husbandly.

“As youths here in Rufunsa district we suffer a lot as you can see Rufunsa is a new district which does not have companies,” said Mr Kalambalala.
