UPND Alliance rejects Kambwili’s son

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

ALL our NDC candidates will stand on the UPND Alliance ticket in the August 12 general elections and for Chishimba Kambwili’s son, Mwamba, I think he is an independent candidate, acting NDC president Joseph Akafumba has said.

Mr Akafumba assured the aspiring candidates that they were safe in the UPND Alliance.

“NDC is not fielding any candidates under NDC ticket this August 12, 2021, but all our candidates will stand on UPND Alliance,” Mr Akafumba said.

He said the so-called office bearers meeting held in Luanshya on Tuesday that was chaired by Mr Charles Kabwita, a committee member, was illegal and should be ignored.

Mr Akafumba said all office bearers should have received notices for the meeting but none did.

He emphasised: “No one is standing on NDC ticket but on UPND Alliance.”

Mr Akafumba warned that the national convention which the Kambwili faction was organising for tomorrow was illegal because he has no mandate to call for the meeting.

He said now that NDC  has been granted an ex-parte order of interim injunction restraining Mr Kambwili from masquerading as party president, members should ignore him.

Mr Akafumba said Mr Kambwili was not the president of NDC until such a time when the matter was resolved in court.
