HOUSING and Infrastructure Minister Ronald Chitotela has called on the people of Southern Province to embrace the national slogan of One Zambia, One Nation.

And the family of late Harry Mwanga Nkumbula has praised the PF government for honouring their relatives through the renaming of the former Livingstone International Airport after him (Harry Mwanga Nkumbula).

Mr. Chitotela said that the people of Southern Province were part of Zambia and must work with the Patriotic Front government like any other province in the country.

Speaking in Livingstone on Friday during the commissioning of the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport new terminal building II and the Radar System, Mr. Chitotela observed that the One Zambia, One Nation motto must be the driving force of unity in Zambia.

“Let us stand together as we preserve the unity which this country has continued to enjoy since it got its independence in 1964. Zambians must be free to mingle with each other. Peace is paramount,” he said.

“I would like to thank President Edgar Lungu for continuing with our late President Michael Sata to ensure development reaches in all the 10 provinces of this country. That is how it ought to be.

“I want to call on the people of Southern Province to own this building which has been named after our great man Harry Mwanga Nkumbula who was an initiator of peace in this country,” he said.

Mr Chitotela has further called on the people of Southern Province to be happy by associating themselves with President Lungu’s government which he said has put the interest of Zambians first.

And the family of late Harry Mwanga Nkumbula has praised the PF government for honouring their relatives through the renaming of the former Livingstone International Airport after him (Harry Mwanga Nkumbula).

Family representative Hamwende Kayumba said during the commissioning of the airport in Livingstone that the family of Mr Harry Mwanga Nkumbula appreciates the gesture by the PF government.

“Harry Mwanga Nkumbula was the father of nationalism in this country. I want to pay particular tribute to the late President Sata who made the bold decision to ensure the Airport is named after Nkumbula. It goes without saying that Sata stole the show from past president and future presidents because he has done what they failed to do and what they may not do since he has done it,” he said.

Mr. Kayumba said that the people of Southern province like Nkumbula stand for peace in Zambia.

The event was also witnessed by late Nkumbula’s daughter and four grand children
