Mumba takes issue over tissue rant

 RELATIVES of Patriotic Front deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri are very upset with Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili for his distasteful remarks against her and say he should issue a written apology to the family, says NRP president Cosmo Mumba.

Dr Mumba said that Ms Phiri was his niece and that relatives as well as the family did not receive well the remarks made by Mr Kambwili that the lawmaker used to buy for her toilet tissue.

He said the remarks were against the Zambian culture and that it was an insult not only against Ms Phiri but women in Zambia and urged women not to entrust such leaders with any leadership position.

In an interview yesterday, Dr Mumba challenged Mr Kambwili to issue a written apology to Ms Phiri’s family, women and people of Muchinga Province within 48 hours or else the family would take unspecified action against him.

“I would like to echo my sentiments on the remarks made by Chishimba Kambwili that he used to buy for her tissue, that as a family, we are annoyed with him. Mumbi Phiri is my niece and I urge him to offer a written apology within 48 hours or else unspecified action will be taken,” Dr Mumba said.
