WE appeal to the Ministry of Home Affairs to look into their welfare of prisoners as the conditions behind bars are not good, Gospel Fellowship Ministries Pastor Mumba Mukosha has said.

Pastor Mukosha said that the church was a beacon of love and a centre of hope to those that were down trodden and afflicted, and it was for that reason the church took prisons ministry seriously.

Speaking during a church fellowship at Gospel Fellowship Ministries in Lusaka, Pastor Mukosha said that the church had been reaching out to those that were incarcerated and hoped that Government through the Ministry of Home Affairs would improve the welfare of prisoners who were living in deplorable condition.

“My appeal to the Ministry of Home Affairs is that they should better the conditions of our incarcerated friends because they are living under very bad conditions and it is important that they feel cared for,” Pastor Mukosha said.

He said that the church invited 26 prisoners from Chimbokaila Maximum prisons to fellowship with his church as a way of showing them that they were not neglected or forgotten by society.

“As a church, we accommodate any person regardless of who they are and what they have done. As such, we invited 26 prisoners to come and fellowship with us because we normally go to the prisons to visit them but this time we wanted them to come and join us here,” he said.

Pastor Mukosha further urged other ministers of the Gospel to extend their outreach programs to those that were incarcerated.
