SOME members of the Patriotic Front (PF) security wing in Ndola popularly known as ‘Green Delta” have been implicated in the grabbing of land from people in the area.

PF Copperbelt provincial Chief Security Officer Elaston Chipili said he had received reports of some members of the PF security wing grabbing land, but was still investigating the matter.

Mr Chipili said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that any member of the PF security wing who would be found to be involved in the grabbing of land from people or indeed to be involved in any illegal activities would face the wrath of the law.

“As a PF security wing, we will not protect any of our members found to be involved in illegal activities. No. Being a member of the PF security wing does not mean harassing people or grabbing land from people.

“Being members of the ruling party security, it means we should set a good example by being responsible citizens who will help law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order through intelligence information, instead of being in the forefront of breaking the law,” Mr Chipili said.

Mr Chipili said his warnings to the PF security wing on the Copperbelt to desist from engaging in illegal activities should be taken seriously because even President Edgar Lungu has made it clear that he would not shield people involved in illegal activities.

Mr Chipili said President Lungu was a humble, but disciplined leader and so members of the PF security wing should maintain discipline to make him proud.

“Those members of the PF security wing who want to engage in all forms of illegal and lawlessness activities will be perceived to be people who want to deliberately embarrass President Lungu and so they will be dealt with firmly. I mean, they will face stern disciplinary action.

“Yes, they will be perceived to be people who want to deliberately embarrass President Lungu because they are doing things which President Lungu doesn’t like. So a member of the PF security wing who does things which his Commander doesn’t like deserves to be punished,” he said.
