CHISHIMBA Kambwili’s association with the Mast newspaper and the antagonistic approach he has taken to Government will make it difficult for him to reconcile with party members, Northern Province PF elections deputy chairperson Chibwaya Muma has said.
Mr. Muma told the Daily Nation yesterday that Mr. Kambwili had failed to
act like a person who faced charges which had culminated in the reconciliation process which was on-going but that he was paying the party’s lenience on him by waging a war against Government.
He said instead of showing remorse for his actions against the party and gov-ernment, Mr. Kambwili had aligned himself with elements which were against the PF and government and was ridiculing people who made him who he was today without realizing that his actions were making the ruling party unpopu-lar.
He said no one in PF was against Mr. Kambwili and that the fact that the party acted impartially by allowing him to remain in the party and initiated a peace process between him and Luanshya mayor Nathan Chanda over his witch-craft allegations, was an indication that the party was democratic and was not out to suffocate him.
He expressed surprise that Mr. Kambwili had gone to bed with the same paper which he demonized every day when he was Minister of Information by opposing everything the tabloid wrote and was now their main source who had U-turned against the government he defended fervently.
He said Mr. Kambwili should not ridicule the PF by making unwarranted attacks against Government while his reconciliation process was still on-going, adding that doing so would render the exercise futile.
“Each time we talk about Mr. Kambwili’s behaviour, some people within the party think that some of us are against him but that is not the case. It would be wrong for us to keep quiet when someone is bringing the party into ridicule because this party is bigger than all of us and truthfully speaking, Mr. Kambwili should have toned down and allowed the reconciliation process with Mr. Chanda to come to a conclusion.
“You see, we are not saying we should not have differing opinions. Actually divergent views on issues are what make us strong but surely, what justification can one have over his sudden alliance with the Mast which he talked against almost every day? I don’t think this is right and if he continues insulting those in power, the reconciliation process will be in jeopardy,” Mr. Muma said.
He advised Mr. Kambwili to sober up and respect the party that made him who he was by respecting those in leadership.
