SHOW LEADERSHIP ON POA, UPND CHALLENGED

AS the party which criticised how the Public Order Act (POA) was implemented during the Patriotic Front regime, the UPND should demonstrate that they are able to provide leadership by ensuring that it is applied fairly to all political parties, governance activist, Isaac Mwanza has said.

Mr. Mwanza who is Centre for Constitutionalism and Legal Justice Director said now was the time for the UPND to show leadership on the fair application of the Mr Mwanza said Zambians are eager to see a situation where the opposition parties conduct their campaign in the same area while the head of State is also doing so.

“We expect that all political parties will be allowed to freely campaign even where the President is campaigning himself. We want to see a situation where people should be able to get closer, if he is campaigning in Kabwe constituency oth- ers should also come to cam- paign,” Mr Mwanza said.

He said Zambians expect him to prove leadership by ensuring that political par- ties enjoy their democratic rights to campaign during any given election.

That is what he stood for, he didn’t believe that there must be separation, when a President is campaigning, others shouldn’t be campaigning in the same area as he, Mr Mwanza said.
