Zambian award winning radio presenter and media personality Chanda Kangwa popularly known as Roxy has urged corporate institutions to invest in celebrity marketing as it helps to create larger brand awareness and promotion.

Speaking in an interview after she was named brand ambassador for Smart Plus, a firm part of the ZFJ Group based in Dubai and specialized in handsets manufacturing and distribution.

Roxy said celebrity marketing can be a viable advertising strategy because corporates in other countries have gained more from celebrity endorsements.

“Corporates should definitely buy into endorsing artistes and entertainers because the public easily relates to and follow these people [celebrities] in terms of trends which in turn means larger brand awareness,” she said.

The Radio Phoenix Breakfast Show host said she was delighted to be a brand ambassador for Smart Plus and would do her best to perform her new task.

“ This development mans a lot to me, not only am I excited to associated with the Smart Plus brand but I am looking forward to spreading the message of affordable communication. Living on the urban side, we take it for granted that there are people who can’t afford basic communication and in this day and age, that shouldn’t be happening,” she said.

“I look forward to be getting the right information out there to improve the communication sector through the right brand.”

Roxy will be featured in several campaigns for Smart Plus the coming weeks. She will be also running activation shows in different locations to promote the Smart Plus brand in Zambia.
