Display KK’s portaits- Mbulakulima

Patriotic Front Milenge Member of Parliament Mwansa Mbulakulima has proposed the displaying of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s portrait in public places as he was the father of the nation, Parliament heard yesterday. Vice President Inonge Wina informed the House that government recognized the importance of such a proposal to display Dr. Kaunda’s portrait in public places as the founding father of the nation.

She was responding to a question for oral answer by Mbulakulima who wanted to find out whether government had any plans to display Dr. Kaunda’s portrait in public places as the founding father of the nation. Ms Wina said government had not considered the matter, adding that should the executive feel it could be done the nation would be informed accordingly. Ms Wina said government had not considered the matter at the moment. In a follow-up question, Mr Mbulakulima demanded to know whether government would consider his suggestion following his question. “Now that I have asked this question, honourable Veep, would you mind taking this matter to the executive for consideration?” he asked.

Ms Wina said the PF government welcomed proposals over the matter at hand as it had an open door policy “We are listening government and indeed we shall take this further,” she said. Meanwhile, minister of local government who is Chipangali Patriotic Front (PF) member of Parliament Vincent Mwale informed Parliament that tarring of township roads started during the first quarter of 2017 at the total cost of K118 million. Mr. Mwale said as of February 28, K34, 705, 394. 87 had been paid to the contractor.
