Don’t vote for Bill 10 killers, says Edith Nawakwi

POLITICAL parties that selfishly shot down the Constitutional Amendment Bill 10 of 2019 which was also aimed at promoting women representation in key government positions must not be voted for in the August 12 elections, FDD President Edith Nawakwi has said.

Ms Nawakwi said it was time to reject selfish politicians who have no interest of the citizens, more especially the vulnerable youth, women and the physically challenged.

She said that Bill 10 was intended to provide for proportional representation that allows more youths and women to take key leadership positions.

“So, I do pray that after the 2021 general elections, only Members of Parliament who are pro-women representation must be brought back in the House or must be elected.

“It is important that as we head towards elections all political parties that did not support Bill 10 should not be voted,” she said.

Ms Nawakwi said MPs who do not support women participation in leadership positions must not have a chance of having any number in parliament.

She said the Bill 10 was meant to serve the interest of groups such as the chiefs, youth and the differently abled.
