ZACCI SAYS BAN ON EXPORT PERMITS FOR DAY OLD CHICKS AND STOCK-FEED WILL PROMOTE INCREASED LOCAL PRODUCTION

…calls on government to encourage the youth to venture into feed manufacturing business

Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) says suspension of issuance of export permits for day old chicks and stock-feed will promote increased production on the local market.

ZACCI President Dr Jerome Kawesha told Smart Eagles in an interview, that there is need to utilize rural resources to increase production of stock-feed by using natural materials.

Dr Kawesha has since called on government to encourage the youth to venture in the feed-stock manufacturing business, by supporting them with the much needed capital and incentives.

“Let’s encourage the youth in the country to venture in feed- stock production business by supporting them with the much needed incentives,” Dr Kawesha said.

He added that there is also need to implement natural resources of feed production that can help increase the volume of feed-stock to be utilized in the country.

Dr Kawesha has further advised government to indicate the duration of the measure, so that both local and foreign market segments can appreciate what has driven the decision.

Government has suspended the issuance of export permits for stock feed, its ingredients and day old chicks with immediate effect.
