BURY THE PAST, POLITICIANS ADVISED

PUT politics behind and embrace one another to ensure national healing and reconciliation, political activist Obert Namalongo has advised.
Mr Namalongo commended President Edgar Lungu and President-elect Hakainde Hichilema for opening dialogue as a way of reconciling the country. He said the two have shown leadership as that was how people are supposed to live regardless of the relationship shared in the past.
Mr Namalongo said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that this was encouraging and called on other political players to emulate. “Putting politics behind us is the only solution for now. This is the time we need to embrace one another for the betterment of the country. “National healing and working together to develop our country, definitely should be the goal,” he said.
Mr Namalongo said it was good that the leaders of the country were leading the way after the August 12 general elections results announcement by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
He said this was healthy for a growing democratic nation like Zambians. He added that Zambia was greater than politics and urged citizens to always remember that there was only one country to protect.
