UPND MPs serving their bellies – PF

OPPOSITION UPND members of Parliament are in Parliament to serve their bellies at the expense of service to the people they claim to represent, Patriotic Front (PF) member of the Central Committee (MCC) Paul Moonga has charged.

And Mr. Moonga, who is a former UPND senior member, has suggested that all the UPND seats except for Chilanga constituency should be declared vacant and call for fresh elections in order to have serious MPs.

Mr. Moonga wondered how else a reasonable person could neglect their constituents who were wallowing in poverty and chose to stay away from a platform where poverty alleviation issues were addressed at the highest level of government.

In a statement to the Daily Nation, Mr Moonga said the MPs were only interested in allowances but that they must be stopped forthwith.

“I am saying they only want allowances because they are able to sit in Parliament and wait for money but they boycott a very short ceremony where the President speaks to the nation on policy matters,” he said.

Mr. Moonga suggested that the Speaker Dr. Patrick Matibini must move quickly to ‘‘send the rogue MPs out of the august House’’ to protect its credibility and allow new MPs to start discussing real issues affecting the people when fresh elections were called in their respective constituencies.
