PF STILL VIABLE, ATTRACTIVE – MUKUPA

BY ADRIAN MWANZA

THE reason people are jostling for power and positions in the Patriotic Front is because it is a viable entity despite being dislodged from power, says Chairman Samuel Mukupa.

Mr Mukupa has also assured that the party would transition from the old  to a new leadership and this would be done within the legal provisions of the party.

Mr Mukupa said that when people were fighting for something it meant that it was still an institution to reckon with despite not being in the driver’s seat.

He said there was need to be cautious because they were in transition from the old leadership to a new one hence  the need to be  tactful.

Mr Mukupa said that he was confident that the people that would take over would do a great job to steer the party to greater heights.

“There cannot be a power struggle when there is nothing in the PF so that is an indication that the party is not dead and can bounce back if  we reorganise,” he said.

He said the PF was an established institution, having being in existence for 20 years and was therefore   capable of handling such issues like power struggles.

Mr Mukupa said from 2001 the party had had some defeats and even successes but that they managed to get over them and formed government.

He said that now was the time to concentrate on rebranding and cautioned the party structures not to destroy the party because of  personal ambitions.

“The jostling should be in the auspices of the constitution and they should ensure that they do not  destroy the party which has been in existence for over 20 years,” he said.
