Let retired lawyers head the JCC

Editor,

My concern and what I agree with Judge Mwila Chitabo is that practicing lawyers should not be members of the JCC. How can a lawyer today appear before a judge and tomorrow sit to hear a disciplinary case against the same judge? I know in practice one may declare interest but the fact still remains that practicing lawyers should not be members of the JCC. If my memory serves me right, the Chairman of the JCC is Professor Mvunga a practicing lawyer. Appointments should be reserved for retired senior lawyers and judges.

Car dealers must be removed too

Editor,

Just as government has removed street vendors from Lusaka town centre, car dealers must also be removed with immediate respect. They are taking up a lot of parking space, inconveniencing shoppers, and of course robbing government of revenue because they don’t pay for the parking space, otherwise they would not be there the whole day.

 Farmers are suffering

Editor,

Things are not the way they used to be for farmers. Farmers are facing difficult times due to the coming of E-voucher. This is the time that MPs need to work closely with their electorate and assist them in one way or another. Certainly, a lot of money is being spent for transport, lodging and other things.

Family background associated with school bullying

Editor,

Often the root cause of school bullying is family background. Stable and peaceful families are less likely to produce violent pupils or students. This is always not true, This is from my poorly done informal research.

Parents, it’s time to prepare for school fees

Editor,

There is no blessing in a calamity that is consuming mankind. Wise parents will make use of this situation for paying school fees in advance for their children in schools. Buy books, shoes, Uniforms for the children in advance. In February, just pay for school fees. The cholera thing is a national disaster and I don’t think it cheers any parent out there. We are all at risk of death, including our school going children.

Car washers need to be checked

Editor,

Away from Hungry Lion, I would like to make an observation over most of the car washes in Lusaka where most of them block drainages to have water for washing cars. I believe all the water blocked is waste water with high chances of carrying the cholera bacteria hence reversing the efforts being made to fight the scourge. Concerned Citizen

National team selection should be fair

Editor,

Is Alex Ng’onga better than Ronald ‘Sate, Sate’ Kampamba surely!  Let’s be fair in selection. Anyway its Nyirenda’s job which will be on the line if Ng’onga fails to perform again, like it happened in Nigeria world cup qualifier, because fans don’t spend time with players but the coaches do. Surprising, the fans can see beyond the ant hill, while the coaches pretend not to see until the losses come the team’s way and get fired. Manda
