Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp restored after hours-long blackout.
According to Aljazeera Access to platforms returned after outage blamed on ‘configuration changes’.


Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were being restored on Tuesday after a worldwide outage that lasted nearly six hours.


Facebook, Instagram and the widely-used WhatsApp messaging service are gradually returning to normal after an hours-long global outage that disabled the Facebook-owned social media platforms for some six hours.

alike panicked after the widely used platforms went offline.


Initially, they channelled the blame to the Zambia’s communication and Technology Authority and local internet service providers only to learn that the occurrence was actually a global crisis.


Facebook Instagram and WhatsApp, went offline in the late hours of Monday, Reuters reported.


In Zambia, users of the mentioned platforms took to emails and calls to consult from each other whether they were able to access any of the aforementioned sites.


According to Zambia Information and Communication Technology Agency (ZICTA), statistics, in Zambia over 5 million people use the social media sites for various purposes including communication and business purposes.


Reuters could not immediately confirm the issue that was affecting the services ,but the error message on the webpage of Facebook INC (FB.O) suggested a problem with Domain Name System (DNS).
