ZAMBIA’S economic stability is good for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region, Madagascan President Henry Rajaonarimampianina has said..

Mr Rajaonarimampianina said that Zambia should continue treading on the current path of economic diversification because it is in the interest of COMESA region.  Mr. Rajaonarimampianina said this yesterday when he toured a multimillion Fairy Bottling Company in Lusaka West.

Mr. Rajaonarimampianina, who was accompanied by Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba and Zambia’s ambassador to South Africa and Madagascar Emmanuel Mwamba, said the investment in Fairy Bottling Company has demonstrated the vision which private companies ought to have in the COMESA region.

“Looking at the size of this company I am really encouraged. You have responded to the needs of the COMESA’s huge market,” Mr. Rajaonarimampianina told the owners of the firm.

He said such investment was an indication that the private sector was the pillar and foundation of economic growth in the COMESA region. Mr. Rajaonarimampianina said the role of leaders in the region was to create an enabling environment so that the markets and economies could move forward.

He encouraged Zambians to continue trading on the path economic diversification which had already been demonstrated and encouraged the Fairy Bottling Company to carry on with the job it was doing.

“It is a job well done and it is in the interest of the COMESA market region, Madagascar and Zambia,” Mr. Rajaonarimampianina said.

And speaking after touring the plant, Fairy Bottling Chairman Foaud El Sahely said the firm has also started building the state of the art Medland hospital that will be offering medical services to everyone including cardiac surgery, advanced dental surgery and Nano-technology.
