YOUTHS mostly from the United Party for National Development in (UPND)Siavonga have vowed to camp at District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama’s office from Monday next week if Government does not intervene in the standoff between them and Razel-bec, the company working on the Kariba Dam wall.

The youth have accused Mr. Kanyama of having directed Razel-bec not to employ members of the opposition, an allegation he and the French company have denied.

When contacted over the matter last week, Mr. Kanyama denied instructing Razel-bec not to employ people who belong to the opposition.

He said the rehabilitation of Kariba Dam wall was a national project and would benefit all Zambians regardless of their political affiliation.

On Wednesday, scores of youths marched to the civic centre, which houses Mr. Kanyama’s office, to meet him. But they could not meet him as he was out of office.

After their effort to meet him, failed, the youth later convened at Siavonga recreation park to plot their next step of action.

“We will convene on Monday again at the DC’s office next week. This time around we are coming with blankets and food because we are going to camp there until our voice is heard. Why should we be segregated on a simple reason of belonging to the opposition?” asked the irate youths.

Last week, the youths attempted to stage a protest against Mr Kanyama and Razel-bec but were advised by police and their leaders not to go ahead with the plan.
