INDIAN experts have offered to give Zambian doctors training in kidney, liver and heart transplants, Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga has said.

And Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda said State House greatly valued the contribution India was making to Zambia’s health sector.

This is according to a statement issued by first secretary for press and tourism at the Zambian High Commission in New Delhi Bangwe Naviley.

Mrs. Kapijimpanga, who is also accredited to Singapore, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Myanmar, said over 100 Zambians travel to India every three months to seek specialized medical attention.

She said the specialized skills transfer for Zambian doctors would therefore cut on costs.

“We managed to meet the medical experts recently when Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr. Jabin Mulwanda visited India and they expressed their desire is to transfer their skills to our Zambian doctors,” Mrs. Kapijimpanga said.

And Mr. Chanda said the loan from India to construct 650 health posts in Zambia was unprecedented as it took health care services as close to the people as possible.

“The President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, wants to get maximum support from India in various sectors such as health for the good of the people of Zambia,” Mr. Chanda said.
