Security wings arrest Chanda, 2 others

A joint investigations team involving the Drug Enforcement Commission(DEC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)has jointly charged and arrested Mr. Macpherson Mumbi Chanda, Mr. Best Mwaichi and Isaac Kamwimba for Corrupt practices involving over K300,000,000.00.
The trio, in their capacities as Postmaster General, Director of Finance and Director of Operations, respectively, were said to have unlawfully diverted social cash transfer funds amounting to K335, 108, 834.00 without lawful authority.
It was alleged that Macpherson Mumbi Chanda, a male aged 47 of House No. 5262 Mtata Road in Kansenshi Township in Ndola, jointly and whilst acting together with Best Mwaichi, a male aged 51 of House No. 89 Petauke Crescent, Kansenshi Township in Ndola and Isaac Kamwimba, a male aged 48 of Plot No. 6644/45 Chilubi Island Road in Kabwe and other persons unknown, on dates unknown but between 1st January 2017 and 31st December 2018, did engage in corrupt acquisition of funds contrary to section 34(1)(b) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.
The three suspects have since been released on Police Bond and will appear in court soon.
This was according to a statement issued by DEC public relations officer Mathias Kamanga and ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe.
