TRANSACTIONAL sex has become a booming business in Chilabombwe’s Kasumbalesa Border Post as trucks have formed excruciatingly long queues which are taking many long days to be cleared by the border authorities, it has been reported.
And Chambishi and Chililabombwe residents have taken advantage of the congestion at Kasumbalesa border Post with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and are cashing in by selling food and water at exorbitant prices to truck drivers whose trucks are marooned in a long queue that has extended as far Chambishi.
Daily Nation investigations have revealed that because the congestion has taken long to clear the queue has become longer and some truck drivers and local people are allegedly trading in sex.
Some young girls talked to, who spoke on condition of anonymity told the Daily Nation that they were involved in transactional sexual with some drivers because of poverty and hunger
And food and water have become the most expensive commodities in Chingola and Chililabombwe and many are now cashing in as a result of the truck congestion which have long and winding queues as clearance has become too slow.
