MINISTER of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, has given a sev- en day amnesty effective today to all former govern- ment officials, parastatal organization leaders, polit- ical cadres and members of the public who are illegally holding on to government vehicles to surrender them.

Mr. Mwiimbu said fail- ure to do so, government through the security wings will institute investigations to recover all concealed mo- tor vehicles and those found wanting will be arrested and charged for theft of motor vehicles.

He said government will give a token of appreciation

to any member of the pub- lic who will provide relevant information leading to the successful recovery of the said motor vehicles.

And Mr. Mwiimbu has ex- pressed displeasure and dis- appointment at the political violence that has character- ized the Kabwata constitu- ency parliamentary by-elec- tions campaigns.

He has warned individuals and all political parties in- volved to immediately stop the vice and embrace peace- ful election campaigns.

Mr. Mwiimbu has since instructed Inspector Gen- eral of Police Lemmy Kajo- ba to make sure that police conduct foot and motorised patrols in the area from now until January 20, 2022.

He has further directed that more police officers be deployed in the constituen- cy to beef up manpower and increase the presence to cur- tail violence.
