A CAMPAIGN dubbed Social Consciousness Speech aimed at focusing and creating awareness for people to help the poor has been launched.

Speaking during the launch, Pro-Poor Campaigner Godfrey Simukonde said the ‘Speech’ was meant to be delivered across the country with support from friends, well-wishers and partners of Godfrey Kids Centre and initiatives.

He said that it was difficult to see children sleeping in drainages and growing up there, the blind with no one to help them, the young and the old stuck in life with no hope.

“Where is the Government? Where are the men of God and business leaders? Life is not about being rich but it is about changing people’s lives for the better,” he said.

Mr. Simukonde urged people not to only look at the outside world to help solve problems but should also find solutions themselves.

“We should develop the mind-set as citizens of helping one another,” he said.

He said our freedom fighters came together and worked to make Zambia free from colonialism. And that people should also work together to ensure that the children living on the street, the blind, the young and the old were empowered.

“If we can do that, we can walk the street as free and proud men knowing that people who had nothing are empowered,” he said.
