SENIOR Chief Chiwala of the Lamba speaking people in Masaiti district has described ‘ring leader’ Owen Ndelementi petitioning his chieftaincy as an alarmist whose intention is to cause anarchy in his chiefdom.

Chief Chiwala, who disowned Ndelementi as one of his subjects told the Daily Nation that he had since lodged a complaint with the police against Mr. Ndelementi.

He said he would not rest until Ndelementi was brought to book. The chief wondered why chieftaincy issues were taken to court when it was an internal matter.

“I do not know the person and have never met him before. I suspect he has just been hired by people who are fighting my chieftaincy and issues being brought to light are false, malicious and can bring about anarchy in my chiefdom,” he said.

Chief Chiwala said people in the chiefdom were unhappy and were looking for the person behind this problem.

He said the campaign by Mr. Ndelementi was aimed at discrediting him adding that he would not rest until the law took it course.

Chief Chiwala demanded a retraction of the story carried by the paper.

Meanwhile, efforts to contact Mr. Ndelementi failed as his phones were outside coverage area.

Copperbelt Police commissioner Charity Katanga could not confirm if the chief had lodged a complaint with the police as she was out of office.

He claimed that the Chiwala reign continues to exist as a yoke of slavery and intimidation tool for villagers.

Mr. Ndelementi disclosed that 700 signatures had been collected to petition against the Chiwala rulership.
