‘Dissolve ACC, FIC boards’

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

GOVERNMENT should dissolve the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) boards to ensure effective operations, political activist Obert Namalongo has said.

Mr Namalongo said in as much as many have welcomed corruption and economic crimes court coming under the new government, there was need to have the boards at the two institutions dissolved.

He said this was because the boards were not appointed on merit.

“Therefore, for this government to be successful in its operations and the crusade against corruption, they should quickly dissolve the PF-led boards at FIC, ACC and the DEC,” he said.

Mr Namalongo added that citizens expected results from the law enforcement agencies and not lip-service.

He said people had lost confidence in the institutions because of the way they operated.

Mr Namalongo said only arrests and successful prosecutions would restore confidence in the three institutions.

He said this would also see institutions and individuals avoid misusing public funds but channel them to their intended purposes.
