THE 2016 – 2017 Midlands Basketball Association (MBA) League was very competitive, Green Buffaloes basketball team coach Henry Mwaba has said.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Nation Sports, coach Mwaba said the game of basketball has continued to improve as clubs have become very competitive.

Mwaba said had it not been for the stiff competition, his team would have come out as runners-up or would have ended up winning the league.

“The 2016 basketball league was tough for us as Green Buffaloes.  We had planned to win the ZBA league but due to the stiff competition other teams gave us, we even failed to come out as runners-up, ‘’ Mwaba said.

He noted that he has a lot of good players on his disposal who would have won the Midland’s ZBA league title which is being contested by Matero Magic and UNZA Pacers who came first and second respectively.

“We have a very good team. A team of players who can win us the league but due to a few trials, we failed to even come out as runners-up,” he stated. Green Buffaloes are fourth on the Midlands ZBA league despite recording a walk-over victory over ZCAS Blazers in a Week 26 fixture at NASDEC Sports Complex last Saturday.
