FORMER Mufumbwe Member of Parliament Steven Masumba says there is need to have different political players coming on board for the sake of strengthening the party in the province.

Recently, Members of the Central Committee for the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) resolved that North Western Province be subjected to intra-party elections.

Mr Masumba told the Daily Nation in an interview that the PF in the province is coming from a background were politically, it did not perform well hence the need to have intra-party elections.

‘’I want to sincerely commend the decision that the Central Committee has arrived at in trying to ensure that we hold elections. Ideally, that is how it should be because we need to strengthen the party,” Mr Masumba said.

He said the PF has done well to be open to all members that want to contest on various positions, adding that PF is very democratic party.

‘’It is not like these other political parties which does not go for conventios, even intra-party elections. We commend the leadership of the PF for having exhibited the democratic principles by ensuring that we lead by example as the  ruling party,” he said.

He called on all party members that are interested in various positinos to come on board and participate in the elections that should be held in a peaceful manner.

“Because we are one and the same family. So even those that will emerge winners must be supported,” he said.

And Mr Masumba has appealed to the people in the province to work with the government of the day.

He said people should not be hoodwinked by the opposition by thinking that they will form government.

He said voting on party lines will not help the province in terms of development because the opposition members of Parliament cannot walk in any government office for fear of being victimised by their leadership.

‘’They fear their party leadership, in the end we will have no development and at the end of the day, it’s our people that are suffering,” he said.
