ZAMBIANS must not get excited at the campaign promises being made by some parliamentary and presidential candidates but must look at their capacity to deliver on their promises or else they may regret being used and dumped” Patriotic Front (PF) Chimwemwe constituency parliamentary candidate Allen Banda has said
Mr Banda said he had observed that out of desperation for power, some presidential and parliamentary candidates were making campaign promises to win the hearts of the electorate
In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Banda said instead of talking about practical measures to mitigate the effects of Covid-19, the empowering of women and youths, some independent candidates who had earlier failed to deliver on their campaign promises, were now promising that they would talk to banks to reduce interests rates
“Out of desperation for power, some independent candidates who failed to deliver when they had their chance of serving the people of Chimwemwe constituency are now promising to reduce bank interest rate. We need practical promises which would benefit the people especially now in the time of Covid-19.
“This is why as the PF government, we have initiated various projects for the empowerment of women and youths. The emphasis now is that the beneficiariess of these empowerment initiatives should fully utilise them,” Mr Banda said
Mr Banda said it was disappointing that even some presidential candidates have come full throttle telling lies that they will change the country’s economy overnight when they had failed put up a significant project in the communities where they were living.
He said, apart from looking at their capacity to deliver on their promises, Zambians should also look at the character and behaviour of those people seeking public office.
