MMD presidential candidate Nevers Mumba has refuted claims that has received a whooping one million dollars so that he can pull out of Thursday’s presidential race.
Mumba bemoaned at a briefing that he believed the rumours of the purported withdrawal were being circulated by some wings in the PF who wanted to sabotage his elections chances.
Mumba accused president Lungu of spearheading former water and Sanitation minister Raphael Nakacinda’s recent political crusade against his leadership.
He observed that president Lungu had rewarded with ministerial appointment, everyone that attempted to dislodge MMD, in reference to Nakacinda and former works and supply minister, Felix Mutati.
Mumba warned that God would not overlook President Lungu’s acts of sabotage on him, since 2015.
Mumba however admitted to having threatened the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) at a meeting he held to complain about the PF’s claim that it was in an alliance with MMD if something was not done.
“The rumour of our possible withdrawal, arose from the unacceptable behavior of President Lungu .I am tired myself together with many Zambians of Mr Lungu’s unlawful conduct .
His love for lawlessness His appreciation of criminally minded people, he revolved more around criminally minded people. The more they break the law, the closer he gets to them and yet he is supposed to defend the Constitution. I think this is being reckless. If you want MMD so badly, come! come and get it but don’t use government machinery to abuse democracy.
Do you want to be president of two political parties? Let us talk about that maybe we can change the constitution and you can become,” said Mumba.
Mumba accused the PF leader of blocking him from exercising his democratic right to run as president of the country.
“I was in Congo (DR), where I was arrested, the person that I called when I was surrounded by the military in Kolwezi, was president Lungu the phone rang and rang and rang. I was shaking not knowing what was going on. I wanted to tell the president I am in trouble. I sent a message to him and as always, he never responded. In a midst of hit a vice president of this country regardless of what he could have said about me but he has an obligation to ensure his people are safe. ”
“Forget the fact that I opposition, I am a Zambian for heaven’s sake I have served this country…I have always thought all the things they say about president Lungu are maybe not fair but today I want to talk about these things…”
And Mumba said he worth more than the million dollars he was being accused of receiving.
“Million dollars? When we talk about value, Kuti mwambika pa million dollars mwe bantu bakwalesa? I have received no such money from anyone.
